Small, sourced finds on design, research and product. Each one leads with the surprise, and links to its proof.
What this prototype changes from the live site
Opening an idea expands the card in place to the full row. Cards after it move up to fill the gap. The live site goes to a separate page.
The expanded card keeps the live detail format: the idea, in practice, a common mistake, when to use it, why it matters, the source, and Follow the thought.
Wall cards follow the top-aligned grid file: one title size and weight for every card, and each card is exactly as tall as its own text. Gaps stay 16px in both directions.
Card colour cycles in a fixed order, as in that file. It doesn’t follow category.
The ↗ arrow is removed; “Explore idea →” and the save heart stay.
The wall loads 24 cards at a time as you scroll. Search and chips look through all ideas, loaded or not.
New: Surprise me, a “Read” marker, Shelves and Trail layouts, a zero-result block, and search that ignores apostrophes and plural s.
Follow the thought carries a reason line. About 25 links have hand-written reasons; the rest say “Also in [category]”.
The 400 view repeats the real ideas to simulate scale. Repeats are marked.
Concept text is written for this prototype and hasn’t been editor-checked. Sources are shown only where a real page is known; the rest say a source is still to be added. The synthetic users finding uses the live page’s text.
